Sleepovers at the Science Center!

girls in sleeping bags Have you ever wanted to spend the night in a museum? Here’s your chance! Explore the Science Center after dark, check out hundreds of hands-on exhibits, watch a special OMNIMAX® movie on our giant screen, enjoy a late night snack, then grab your sleeping bag and spend the night among your favorite exhibits! Plus, you can enjoy free admission to Great Lakes Science Center the entire next day!

2012 Sleepover Dates

We’ve got sleepovers just for families and groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and homeschoolers. All sleepovers are $39 per person. Check out our 2012 schedule below! Please note: All youth 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult (or Scout Leader) for these events.

Reach for the Stars
Friday, February 10
6 pm
Learn about stars, meteors, comets, black holes and more! Build and launch a rocket, view a real moon rock, train to become an astronaut, sample soil from Mars and experience the STARLAB Planetarium. Explore space while watching the OMNIMAX movie, Hubble.

CSI Sleepover
Friday, May 11
6 pm
Someone, or someTHING, has been disturbing the Science Center’s efforts to study a rare space rock! Crack a code and uncover the secrets to solve the case! Explore the museum in this wild and wacky hunt for adults and kids to do together. Analyze fingerprints and handwriting, measure blood splatter and bullet trajectories and perform DNA experiments to catch the culprit. Enjoy the OMNIMAX movie, Amazon.

Boy Scout Sleepovers

Robotics – two dates offered!
Saturday, February 25; 6 pm - sold out!
Friday, April 6; 6 pm
Using the latest in LEGO NXT technology, spend the evening designing, building, programming and challenging other robots in a series of mini-competitions that will test your speed, accuracy and ability. Learn advanced programming skills and come to win! Enjoy the OMNIMAX movie, Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag, and explore the museum after dark!

Crime Scene Investigator
Saturday, March 24

More than a popular TV series, crime scene investigators use many aspects of science to crack important cases. Scouts will learn how to gather clues using real fingerprinting, fiber analysis and shoe prints. Once you master the steps, you get to solve your own “crime!” Open to Scouts of all ages.

Join us for a night of robots and fun! Using the latest in LEGO NXT technology, spend the evening designing, building, programming and challenging other robots in a series of mini-competitions that will test your speed, accuracy and ability.
